Weddings
A Christian wedding is a sacred ceremony where a couple exchanges vows before God in a church, affirming their love, commitment, and the support of their faith community. At Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Cathedral, we are honored to be part of this special moment and welcome couples who seek a Christ-centered wedding ceremony.
The First 40 Day Blessing
The Armenian Church observes a sacred 40-day period after childbirth, allowing the mother time to recover while caring for and bonding with her child. During this time, her husband and loved ones support and care for her.
On the 40th day, the mother and child are welcomed back into the Church through special blessings.
After the Forty Days Requiem (“Karasoonk”) & Yearly Requiem (“Dareleetz”)
After the Forty Days Requiem (“Karasoonk”) is both a sacred tradition and a church ordinance. Forty days following the death of a church member, a Requiem is held for the repose of their soul. This marks the conclusion of theofficial mourning period, and the departed's grave is typically blessed as well.
The Forty Days Requiem (Karasoonk) is followed by the option to request the Hokehankisd annually (Dareleetz) on the Sunday nearest to the date of the death or, according to an older tradition, on the feast day of the saint after whom the deceased was named. for a few seconds

Home Blessings
In the sacred traditions of the Armenian Church, God's blessing is invoked upon homes on various occasions, such as the Nativity and Resurrection of Christ, as well as the joyful event of moving into a new home.
During a Home Blessing, the priest brings wafers and incense and blesses the bread, water, and salt—three fundamental elements essential to life. He prays to the Almighty God, asking that these vital gifts never be diminished, as life would be incomplete or impossible without them.
